The two layer architecture separates impact resistance from shock absorption, and handles both better than a single material can. MagSafe charging works through both layers, so the case stays on. Grip and button feel are both good, which is not a given on a case this protective.

The buffering system is built around preventing falls from doing damage, with reinforced corners taking the worst of it.
